Welcome to I Heart Cooking Clubs!
A Little Bit About Us:
Cooking together since 2009, IHCC is a spin-off of the popular TFF (Tyler Florence Fridays) cooking club and is presently featuring the recipes of Curtis Stone! (Through October 2, 2016.) This cooking club aims to grow and change with its members and explore other cooks and books in the future. A new chef/cook will be announced every six months. You can see a list of the previous IHCC chefs under the heading of this blog.)
---
You Choose the Recipes!
In the interest of freedom of choice, we have organized this cooking club on themes--listed on the sidebar. How you interpret the theme is up to you. If you feel that you would like nothing better than a three pound bison burger, with all the fixin's, on a spa day.. nobody will challenge you on it! The only 'rule' to IHCC is that you must cook a recipe from the current featured chef except on specified Monthly Potluck weeks when you can cook the recipes of the current chef, or the recipes of any previous IHCC chef and our new in 2015: Monthly Featured Chef Event where we feature one of our previous IHCC chefs (listed under the heading of this blog.)
Once the theme is announced, feel free to peruse the current chef's recipes from cookbooks or online, to find one that you think suits the theme and your tastes. Have fun with the recipe, change what you like, and link into that week's post.
---
Sidebar Blogroll
If you would like to be added to the blogroll on the sidebar, please leave your name and a link to your blog in the comments section of this welcome post. We will add your name once you have participated and linked up your first post.
---
Linking Your Post
At the end of each week's post, you will have a chance to link your post's permalink (not the link to your blog's homepage or front page) with inlinkz, below. The link will allow you to add and crop a thumbnail photo too. Please leave a comment after, each week that you use inlinkz to link your post, just to be sure we don't miss anyone.

What is a permalink?
What is a permalink?
A permalink is a permanent link to your specific post, not to your blog's front page.
This is a permalink to a post -
http://iheartcookingclubs.blogspot.com/2013/04/shalom-yotam-ottolenghi.html
This is a link to the blog's front page -
http://iheartcookingclubs.blogspot.com/
See the difference? Great! Looking forward to seeing your dishes!
Note: You can post any time during the week, new themes will be officially announced on a Monday post with the link up for that week, but themes are listed on the sidebar at least a few weeks in advance so that you can plan ahead.
---
The IHCC Community
We think the fun of IHCC is being a part of a supportive community. Here are a few ways to join in:
- Leave a comment when you put up your inlinkz picture and link--that way we don't miss your dish and we know you are out there.
- Take a few minutes to visit the posts of your fellow IHCC participants each week and leave them a comment. Lots of great friendships have starting with some simple kind words.
- Put the IHCC badge and/or featured chef badge on your blog sidebar and mention IHCC and the themes in the posts you are linking up--we love to have new members and many of them come to us from seeing their friends join in the IHCC fun.
- Make sure we have your blog listed on the Active Members list on the sidebar. We try to cath them all but email us if we miss you!
- Join in with suggestions for themes, ideas for new events and new featured chefs--we love to hear from you.
Questions?
If you have any questions that were not answered by reading this page or the sidebars, please leave a comment on this post or email one of the host/administrators listed on the sidebar.
Again, we welcome you to IHCC!!!
I am in. I have her cookbook, one of them. I have not been able to use it enough because I have to go to Tyler and Ellie first. I want to use her recipes though.
ReplyDeleteWhile, I am thinking of giving up groups that necessitate a weekly designated recipe, I love ones where I can select my own recipe.
In joining clubs, my goal, is to incorporate them into our meals and not cook extra foods for the camera because it is the weekly food. I love CEiMB, despite the assigned recipe. All Elle's recipes are great.
I did not mean to write a book and feel free to remove this if I went overboard. Just add me to the list. I am on my way to look up recipes. I need a pasta. I know where to find it.
Thanks for doing this.
Sweet and Savory Says it All
Welcome Sweet & Savory (Chaya)! We're glad to have you on board :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited : ) Please count me in and add Stirring the Pot to the sidebar.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! So glad you're here :)
ReplyDeleteJust a comment to share some helpful info on Nigella's cookbooks, just in case anyone is interested in purchasing one of her cookbooks. One of my new favorite things to do is look up "used" cookbooks/books online at Amazon. I got a Paula Deen cookbook for .79 cents, mailed it was $4. It was pretty much brand new, with a tear on one page. (I totally use and abuse my cookbooks, so this didn't bother me at all). Nigella's cookbooks are also available very cheap on Amazon. The used books average about $2-4 dollars and around $3 for shipping. It's really hard to beat that price. I like looking online, but there is nothing like having that cookbook right in front of you!! Sorry to go on, but cheap cookbooks really excite me : )
ReplyDeleteI would love to participate. I don't have any of Nigella's cookbooks, though I'm sure I can find something online ;) Feel free to add me to your blogroll..
ReplyDeletehttp://spaininiowa.blogspot.com!

ReplyDeleteMichelle - wonderful! So happy to have you.
ReplyDeleteI would like to join, but I'm not sure that I could make it work. I go grocery shopping on the weekend, so if it's announced on a Monday, it'll be too late for me, I've already bought and planned my weeks food.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join too. It is a great idea to keep rotating the chefs - I really like the fact that I will be trying out different cookbook authors.
ReplyDeletehttP://munchandnibble.blogspot.com
Pam - don't worry, we've got your back! The upcoming weeks will be shown on the sidebar, you will always have at least two weeks advance notice. We are every-two-weeks shoppers ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSuzie, great to have you! I added you to the blogroll.
ReplyDeleteI goofed. The potato kugel was not supposed to be posted here. The chocolate mousse was. Would you remove the kugel, please?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab idea. I've been promising to try out some of Nigella's recipes for ages, now I have a good reason. Count me in for recipes and adding me to the sidebar blogroll too.

ReplyDeleteThanks for organizing this.
Lea Ann
Hi!
ReplyDeleteWe post the theme on Monday, but you have all week to post. No pressure to do every week.
Food Network online has lots of recipes translated to American measure, and her own site has metric recipes.
Nigella Express seems to be the most popular book to start with, if you are shopping or making your Christmas list.
Great to have you on board!!
I'm ordering a Nigella cookbook now so I can participate. I hope I've done this correctly. Will soon see.
ReplyDeleteI would love to participate! Any push to get me to try new recipes is great in my book. And I never hesitate to buy new cookbooks, so I'll be running out for some of Nigella's! I'd love it if you added me to your blogroll :)
ReplyDeletego ahead and snicker

ReplyDelete@Evelyn - Hi! We are a chef/cook-based cooking club. We feature a certain chef for 6 months at a time and cook from their recipes (or adapt or inspired by them and their techniques). We only have one real rule, and that is to cook from our chosen chef/cook. We have weekly themes meant to inspire.

What's On The List
http://whatsonthelist.net
Hi Joanne,
ReplyDeleteWelcome! It is great to have you. To participate this week (our last with Diana Henry), just make and post any of her recipes from cookbooks or online and link it up using the inlinkz tool below this week's post. Leave a comment on the post when you do.
If you don't make it this week, we start cooking with Jacques Pepin--the themes are on the sidebar, although next week is any of his dishes to welcome him. Once you have participated and linked up, we will add your blog to the sidebar.
Aloha,
Deb
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteI just found your website and wanted to join in. If I understand correctly, to participate, all I have to do is link the permalink to a specific post in my blog at the end of each week's post. Is that is?
Thanks,
Judy
What fun especially on days that I need inspiration or motivation. That is not to say that I don't have over 100 cookbooks to inspire me.
ReplyDeleteDid I fill out the identity correctly?
I am having difficulty trying to trash 2 links as they don't lead to the correct blog post. The "trash" button does not work for me and allow me to delete the 2 posts. It gives me a message and a choice to trash or cancel, trash just reloads and reloads and cancel doesn't work either.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Hi Ibbeachnana,
ReplyDeleteI went in and deleted two incorrect links and then went in and re-linked your Jamie Oliver dish with the correct link picture. If that isn't correct, let me know.
Aloha,
Deb
Well, here we are again, another Ellie Krieger theme...but what is going on, with a deadline of February 1st as I copied "To join in the Oodles of Noodles fun, just post and link your Ellie Krueger noodle dish by Sunday, February 1st. " Is this groundhog day? Again with such a fabulous selection of chef's I find it hard to believe that Ellie Krieger is again the choice. Is there some approval by said chef that must be fulfilled?
ReplyDeleteI saw your comments and wanted to address them as the tone sounds like you have some frustrations.
ReplyDelete-Regarding the date on Oodles of Noodles, it was a simple typo. It happens occasionally as we are humans, and it was changed to Sunday, Feb. 7th when another member kindly let us know there was an error. For future reference, you can always check the Monthly theme lists on the sidebar--published several weeks ahead.
Regarding Ellie Krieger, I answered another comment you made about this on the You Have It Made! post but I am thinking that you didn't see it as you still seem to have confusion about how IHCC works. As noted on the site, IHCC selects (usually by participant poll) a featured chef to cook with for 6 months. Ellie Krieger was voted in as our current featured chef in October (and is featured from Oct 5 thru April 3 as noted in several places on the side bar). Until we vote and switch to our new featured chef for the coming 6 months of April-Oct 2016), you will see her in the weekly themed posts--2 to 3 times a month (depending on whether it is a 4 or 5 week month) with the idea that participants make an Ellie Krieger recipe for that week, based on that week's theme and post it by the Sunday night deadline for that week.
Two weeks out of the month we change it up by having:
1) A Potluck, usually on the last week of the month. Potluck is where participants can make any dish from the current featured chef (Ellie) or any recipe from one of our previous 12 IHCC featured chef's (listed on the Potluck posts, side bar, or under the heading).
2) Our Monthly Featured Chef Theme on the 2nd week of the month where we revisit one of our previous IHCC featured chefs and participants can make any recipe by that featured chef. (Jamie Oliver was January's Featured Chef and Tessa Kiros is February's).
The themes are there to make it fun and to build community so that people can check out (and comment on) how their fellow participants interpreted the theme with the featured chef's recipes. I would suggest that if you are not interested in cooking along with our current featured chef--Ellie, that you just participate on Potlucks and/or the Monthly Featured Chef events if you want to cook along with us.
Hope that helps explain us a bit more. Most of the info is on the side bars or the welcome page to refer to.
Aloha,
Deb
So excited to join! Found this club through my love of Donna Hay (her internet fandom is surprisingly low). Please add me to the blog roll when you are able: mywonbowl.com. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAm jumping in with my first contribution to IHCC - a Madhur Jaffrey post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea and am so glad I stumbled upon this amazing cooking club. I have been blogging since 8 years but currently going through a blogging burnout. I am desperately trying to re-kindle the passion and participating in IHCC seems to be the most fun way. Thanks for such a detailed post. Looking forward to participating and submitting my post real soon.
ReplyDeleteBest,
