From the Orchard

Fall is in the air! Can you feel it? Can you feel it? Yeah, me neither. Crazy weather. But I'm still happy with the idea of it being Autumn. Leaves changing colors, colorful fruit hanging from trees, sweatshirts and pumpkins, and munchkins in costume. I'm holding out for a long, looooooong spell of crisp weather once these 80 degree days take their leave. I am totally ready to hop, skip, and pick my way through any orchards I come upon. There's just something so magical about fruit hanging from trees.
So, whether or not the temperatures admit it is fall (or perhaps it is simply Spring on your side of the globe), head out and start pulling fruit from trees then get busy making something delicious. Possibilities abound...from apples, pears, cherries, and plums...to oranges, lemons, limes, and kumquats...to pomegranates, crabapples, passionfruit, persimmons, or even guava! We can't wait to see what magic comes out of the trees, into your kitchen, and over to share with all of us!
Make and post your From the Orchard post by Sunday, October 16th. Don't forget to link your post of the week's with Mr. Linky below, so we can all enjoy your fabulous creation! Remember to leave a comment after, each week that you use Mr. Linky to link your post, just to be sure we don't miss anyone.

If you missed the October Potluck theme last week, be sure to head on over and see all of the delicious dishes everyone brought! Don't forget, we're cooking through the recipes of Tessa Kiros right now...so if you've linked up, be sure that you've used/adapted one of her recipes for your post!

I hear ya! It was in the mid 80's this weekend and we were sweating at the pumpkin patch. LOL! Love all the orchard pics.

It's the story of my life--feeling fall when the weather doesn't . ;-) Great post Heather--it makes me want to go pick some fruit.

Lovely! It has been warm in the day here this week too. Especially yesterday - when I had the oven and burners, etc., all on and it was 26°C out. Broiled. ☺
Looking forward to some orchard goodness!

Great pictures! We were feeling very fall-like and then...poof. Gone.

I picked my dish--just have to find the time to make it.

Just got my dish posted, with fruit hand picked by my kids at the orchard :) This was such an inspirational theme. I'm having so much fun cooking Tessa's recipes with you guys!

I made the very simple and good Mele Cotte con Amaretti (Cooked Apples with Amaretti) this week.

I had the same idea as Deb - delicious wine-soaked baked apples!

Started the day with dessert for breakfast!

Can't go wrong with wine soaked apples! I've been under the weather today (likely because of the real weather!) so I made something different and fun, it wasn't nearly as fun without the molds for the jellies, but it worked and it was indeed fun. It's so much fun sharing and also seeing what everyone else made :) I'm off to look now!

Always weirds me out ever so slightly when we have a "seasonal" theme - makes me feel all out of step. Anyway, managed to come up with Seville Orange Spoon Sweets - fun to make and very delicious.

Natashya, your baked apples look gorgeous - and, you're right, Mele Cotte does sound so much sexier! I think the vanilla ice cream would be an imperative!

Sorry to weird you out, Sue. I was thinking of you when I wrote the post...and hoping there was some kind of fruit growing on trees this time of year for you!

Thanks so much, Sue! I agree, always go for the ice cream! xo
